You're right, there's nothing secure about the web. At least never for long.

I know people are struggling with the fear that someone is going to tamper with their intellectual property. But, if you do something really noteworthy or just plain awful they probably will.

Your alternative is the snore zone in the middle of the bell curve. Make something pretty average and it's likely no one will bother you... on a lot of fronts.
